On the online multimedia platform Second Life, users can design their own avatars and engage in user-generated content and multiplayer online virtual world interactions. Users of Second Life, also known as "residents," construct virtual versions of themselves, known as avatars, that they may interact with in real-world settings as well as other avatars and things.
